Massage Therapy at Health First

More Than a Moment of Relaxation

Therapeutic massage involves hands-on work with muscles and other soft tissues. Your provider considers the area involved, your symptoms, and your health history before recommending an approach. Pressure and technique should suit your condition and comfort level.

Massage may help some people with short-term symptom relief. It does not repair every injury, and it is not a substitute for evaluating new or worsening pain.

What to Expect During a Visit

Before treatment, explain where you feel discomfort and share any recent injuries, surgeries, medications, or medical conditions. Your provider can explain the intended treatment area and ask about your comfort throughout the session.

Tell your provider immediately if pressure feels painful or if you notice unusual symptoms. You can ask to change or stop treatment at any time.

Questions Before Your Visit

Is this the same as a spa massage?

The focus here is on symptoms and function within a care plan. The approach depends on your evaluation rather than a preset relaxation service.

Can massage be combined with other care?

Your provider may discuss chiropractic care or other supportive therapies when appropriate. Not every patient needs every service.

How many sessions will I need?

Recommendations depend on the assessment and your response. Ask about the goals of treatment and when your progress will be reviewed.
