Where does discomfort occur, and which movements bring it on?
Shoulder Pain
Shoulder discomfort can affect simple routines: getting dressed, carrying a bag, reaching a shelf, or finding a comfortable sleeping position. Health First starts with an evaluation to understand your symptoms and identify appropriate next steps.

Where does discomfort occur, and which movements bring it on?
Does pain change with position or interfere with sleeping?
Did symptoms begin after a collision, fall, or other specific event?
Symptoms can involve the shoulder itself or nearby structures. Pain alone does not reveal whether the problem involves a muscle, tendon, joint, or another source. Share any neck discomfort, weakness, numbness, or change in movement during your evaluation.
Your provider may discuss conservative options or recommend further assessment. Related information is available on our neck pain and soft tissue injury pages.
If treatment at Health First is appropriate, the plan may include selected chiropractic or passive therapy services. Your provider should explain the purpose of each recommendation and how progress will be reviewed.
Sudden severe symptoms after an injury, obvious deformity, or inability to use your arm need prompt medical assessment. Shoulder pain with chest pain or difficulty breathing requires emergency care.
It can be. An evaluation helps distinguish possible sources and determine whether another type of assessment is needed.
That depends on your history and examination. Your provider can discuss whether imaging or referral is warranted; it is not automatic for every patient.
