Soft Tissue Injuries at Health First

Muscles

Discomfort may be associated with soreness, tension, or strain.

Tendons

These tissues connect muscles to bones and may become painful after injury or overuse.

Ligaments

These tissues connect bones at joints and may be injured when a joint is stretched or twisted.

Symptoms Are a Starting Point

Soreness, swelling, tenderness, stiffness, and reduced movement can have different causes. The location of pain and how the injury happened help guide the evaluation, but a symptom list cannot establish a diagnosis.

Soft tissue complaints can follow auto accidents, falls, or other physical stresses. Some injuries require medical evaluation beyond conservative treatment.

Choosing Care at the Right Time

The nature and stage of an injury affect which treatments may be appropriate. A therapy that feels helpful later in recovery may not be suitable immediately after an injury. Your provider can explain what is recommended, what to avoid, and when the plan should be reassessed.

Make Your Evaluation More Useful

01 · Share Your Story

Tell your provider when symptoms began, what makes them worse, and how they affect your daily routine.

02 · Understand Your Options

Your evaluation helps determine suitable care and whether further medical assessment is needed.

03 · Review Your Progress

Discuss your response to care and any changes in symptoms so your plan can be reassessed.

Questions Before Your Visit

Are all sprains and strains treated the same way?

No. The tissue involved, severity, location, and effect on function influence care. Some injuries require a referral or additional assessment.

Should I request heat or massage right away?

Ask for an evaluation first. Timing and the nature of the injury matter when choosing supportive therapies.

How long does recovery take?

There is no single timeline. Your provider can discuss expectations based on your findings and monitor your progress.
